For the children of the IDP refugee camp in Paletwa and the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic
In Myanmar, the political situation continues to worsen and the corona virus is on the rise again. In extremely difficult times like these in particular, international development cooperation repeatedly reaches its limits. Internally displaced persons in particular suffer from the extremely unsafe and inhumane circumstances and the impending outbreak of a new wave of pandemics.
This shows once again, and at the moment with COVID-19 more urgently than ever, to work together to advance projects such as “Help for children in Myanmar”, because everyone has the right to human dignity. The survival of “displaced people”, the IDPs (Internally Dislocated People) and their children in the camps of Chin State is almost impossible. There is no clean water, no sanitation, no food, no medicine and no school.
We are doing everything we can to restore human dignity through the construction of latrines, the provision of clean water, the implementation of WASH activities, the distribution of medicines and vitamins for the children, as well as continuous measures against the corona pandemic to teach the best possible protection.
Masks were distributed, actions to wash your hands thoroughly at regular intervals and the social-distance rules in crowds are monitored. In Myanmar, in times of war-like conditions, it is extremely difficult to get food, goods or building materials in the cities that are very far away from the camps, the roads are closed and armed military threatens any journey. Special permits are mandatory and our local partner teams risk everything themselves to help these people and bring some hope to the camps.
