The year 2015 was not an easy one: many developing countries experienced horrible setbacks. The current conflicts and related refugee migrations, worldwide health outbreaks and epidemics, increased poverty, environmental catastrophes and climate changes require direct, fast, concrete and sustainable measures be taken.
Sustainability is of utmost importance. Sustainability is also the focus of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals“ (SDGs) which replaced the „Millennium Development Goals“ (MDGs) in 2015.
Our goal is to fulfill these requirements and to ensure that development work remains a sustainable investment. Countries that take on responsibility and see social investment not a gift but to as a way to progress are our target countries. Our goal is to help countries in their development of an education interested society.
In order to achieve our goal of innovative development work as a sustainable investment we need commitment, drive and the merging of many factors. The most important factor is the German and international economy.

Mission Statement
The Foundation concentrates on sustainable development work in a quick and ever-changing world impacted by globalization and pluralization. The related challenges require a steadfast and forward-thinking commitment. Based on this fact, the Foundation’s focus is on the poorest of the poor, who through sustainable, land-specific and quality education and training projects – especially in the climate and agricultural sectors – will be able to contribute long-term and independently to the development of their country. In line with the guiding idea of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Dr. h.c. Ute-Henriette Ohoven: “Education is the key to conquering poverty and the best way to create peace.”
Areas of Responsibility
The Foundation promotes socially acceptable and sustainable development work with a special concentration on education. In all of our projects, the main focus is on the following three areas that are also in line with the New Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations:

We advocate against injustice, promote self-help and concentrate on sustainable development work for the betterment of living conditions and human rights.
How the Foundation Works
The Foundation supports projects that are developed according to the needs in the respective countries based on the local requirements with the value add adjusted to the traditional cornerstones of society.
The local governments are included in our project work with the goal of continuing the work and assuring the long-term progress of the projects. Some projects are self-sufficient and work with the country’s own entrepreneurship.
Vision
The YOU Foundation – Education for Children in Need upholds the principle „helping people help themselves“ and actively pursues the mandate that every child should have access to education.
